We take the privacy and security of your personal information seriously. We will only use your personal information to provide services you have requested from us.

1. Who we are

'We' in this website refers to Karen Millar

t/a Inkspot & Silverleaf Booksellers.

Within the scope of GDPR rules we

are a 'data controller'.


2. Type of information and how we collect it

We collect your name, email and / or phone number when you place an order with us at the shop, over the phone, or via email. In the case where you ask us to post an item to you, or to a gift receiver directly, your / their address is also collected.


The Inkspot & Silverleaf Booksellers website stores very limited information about our site visitors. However we do use some external services which may store data about you:



· We have a contact  form which allows you to send us a message/enquiry. The details you fill in are passed

to us by email but not stored on the website. We will retain

the emails sent to us this way and may use your contact

details to respond to you about your enquiry.


· We have a newsletter sign up page which allows you to request that we keep you informed of our activities by email. We collect your name and email address when you sign up for our newsletter. (All emails and newsletters from this site allow you to opt out of further mailings.)


3. How we use the information we collect

When you sign up to our newsletter, we use your email to

send our newsletter. We use your personal information to process your orders, take payment, and fulfil orders you have placed with us. In case of posting to you / the gift receiver directly, we use

your / their address to complete the order.


4. The lawful basis for using your information

We rely on your consent in relation to the newsletter subscription and all orders placed with us. We do not track or use this information for any other purpose. ​

5. Who we share your information with

We never share or sell your information with third parties for marketing purposes. When necessary to share your information to fulfil orders or send newsletters, we do so in a safe and secure manner that fulfils all legal requirements. We may share your information with select third party providers where necessary, including:


- Email service providers for our newsletters

- Payment service providers for processing transactions

- Companies that provide us with IT services, delivery services, and order processing services for necessary operational tasks.


We may share information with governmental agencies or other companies assisting us in fraud prevention or investigation. We may do so when: (1) permitted or required by law; or, (2) trying to protect against or prevent actual or potential fraud; or, (3) investigating fraud which has already taken place. The information is not provided to these companies for marketing purposes.

We have implemented security measures designed to ensure that access to your data in any form is strictly monitored and limited. We keep effective data protection software in place wherever information is stored digitally, and by monitoring and protecting our website with appropriate security measures. We work closely and securely with any third parties that we have had to share your data with as outlined in the above section 5.

We rarely use cookies, when we do, it's simply to deliver the best user experience possible. The data we collect through these cookies is solely for the purpose of improving our website and your browsing experience – it is never used to identify you and we would never share or sell on this data.
