About Us

At Inkspot & Silverleaf Booksellers we first opened our shop doors in April of 2008, and we've loved welcoming customers from near and far ever since.

We’re members of the Booksellers Association, and the Federation of Small Businesses, and we both sell and accept National Book Tokens.

We stock our own exclusive line of handmade Bo'ness Fair Day cards, and Little Silverleaf stationery, as well as books, cards and gifts from other local authors and makers.

Ordering & Delivery

We've been part of the Hive bookshop network since it began in 2011, in 2020 we were proud to join Bookshop.org on its long-awaited UK launch too, and in 2023 we joined Libro.fm for audiobooks.

If you’re looking for something we don’t happen to have on the shelves in store then just ask in store, call, or email - we perform book searches and ordering at no extra cost, and can have orders delivered in just a few days.

If you'd like your order delivered, and your address is in or near Bo'ness, delivery is free! If you're elsewhere in the UK, we'll post the books out to you. A small charge may apply, but we'll confirm postage costs before you place the order.

If you can't make it in to the store, please do consider shopping online via our Bookshop.org or Hive.co.uk storefronts.(Orders via Bookshop.org or Hive.co.uk will incur postage costs regardless of delivery destination - these will be shown clearly at the checkout.)

If you'd like to order an audiobooks, please try our storefront on Libro.fm (audiobooks will download directly from the Libro.fm site.)

Community

Since the shop first opened in 2008, we’ve twice been named one of Britain's 'Top 50 Bookshops' by The Independent newspaper, and been featured in several local and national newspapers too, including the Guardian's Independent Bookshops Directory.

We routinely work with local schools and community groups, and take part in national events, such as World Book Day and Independent Booksellers Week, as well as local events including the Hippodrome Silent Film Festival, the Victorian Street Fair, the Transport Festival, the RED and Junior RED Book Awards, and various other fairs and town centre events.

We're pleased to link with several local schools, charities, organisations, and community groups, and often donate books and gift vouchers to help with fundraising efforts. Our nominated charity for the 10p bag charges, and for the countertop collection box in store, is Strathcarron Hospice.
